The First Bi-Annual Heart Ride for Poker Run to benefit the Connor Moran Children's Cancer Foundation drew 200 bikers from Broward through Martin Counties and some from out of state who helped raise $2,700.
The February run included Harley Davidson dealership starting points in Stuart and West Palm Beach, and riders concluded the event at TIKI Waterfront Sea Grill in West Palm Beach. Riders were dealt poker hand cards at each of seven stops. Cash prizes went to first and third place winner James Wai Lun Ng of West Palm Beach, who purchased 11 hands and won $700, and to second place finisher Ron Hoffman of Coconut Creek, who was awarded $300.
The Jupiter-based Connor Moran Children's Cancer Foundation was established by Teri Moran in 1992, after her son, Connor, died as a result of a brain tumor. Designed to improve the quality of life and strengthen and stabilize families affected by cancer diagnosis and treatment, the non-profit organization provides individual, group and bereavement counseling, outings and activities, resources and referrals and more.
