Vincent R. "Jim" DeFranco said in court yesterday others run poker games and pay their expenses by taking some money from the pot.
Said DeFranco, -- quote -- "Technically, the others are as guilty as me because they take money to pay their expenses, but I'm the only one to get arrested."
Acting County Court Judge John Schwartz said he considered a lesser sentence until DeFranco spoke.
Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sommers said DeFranco had ignored a series of police warnings to stop the games.
DeFranco was arrested in March 2004 on a misdemeanor charge of promoting illegal gambling by running a public poker game at the Texas Hold'em Club.
He was indicted on felony charges after seized records showed evidence of sports betting and possession of cards that allowed users to receive satellite television illegally.
He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of possessing gambling records and a forged instrument.
