After two hours of deliberations yesterday without reaching a verdict, it took about 30 minutes this morning for a Hamilton County Criminal Court jury to convict Daniel Decker of first degree murder.
Decker admitted on the stand during his two day trial that he beat his grandmother, 60-year-old Judith Decker to death with a fireplace poker in August 0f 2001.
A sentencing hearing is now underway after which the jury will decide whether Decker will serve life with or without parole.
