A woman was being questioned by Telford police today over an alleged assault in which a man was struck with a poker during New Year celebrations.
The 40-year-old victim suffered a wound to his head in the alleged attack at an address in Corfield Crescent at Oakengates.
Police say that a woman in her 30s was later arrested on suspicion of causing the man grievous bodily harm.
She was one of six women who were arrested in the Telford area.
There were five men being held in custody as police made a total of 11 arrests between 8pm last night and 6am today.
There were seven allegations of assault, two of drunk and disorderly behaviour, one complaint of theft and one of criminal damage.
