Police: Kenner Woman Deserted Toddler To Play Video Poker

NEW ORLEANS -- A woman was booked with child desertion Friday after police found her 2-year-old daughter alone and crying inside a Kenner home for more than two hours.

Police said they found Linda Stearns, 45, in a bar playing video poker. During the investigation, Stearns admitted to leaving the child alone on several occasions, police said.

Stearns also allegedly told officers that she is addicted to prescription drugs and gambling.

Police said the toddler was placed with Child Protective Services.
